We hosted a beetle drive with a fish and chip supper on Friday 26th October at St Oswald’s Church Hall and it was a lot of fun. The fish and chips from the Market Place, Ashbourne were delicious and complimented by some lovely wine, lots of raffle prizes were won too! Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and to those who helped out on the night.

Careline will be holding a fun beetle drive with fish & chip supper on Friday 26th October at St Oswald’s Church Hall, Ashbourne, from 7pm. Tickets are £8 and available from the Careline office – please call 01335 210353 or email jo@carelinecalling.org.uk – hope you can make it! 🙂

On Saturday 29th September, our Chair, Gordon Hart, accepted a cheque from the Rotary Club of Ashbourne at the Last Night of the Proms for an amazing £1000! Thank you SO much!

The Careline team and volunteers completed the 8 mile sponsored walk at Carsington Water on Saturday. The weather was just perfect with blue skies and warm sunshine – not a cloud in the sky. We set off at 10:15am and crossed the finish line (or rather the visitor centre for a well deserved coffee and cake) at 1:15pm.

So far we have raised £370!!

If you didn’t manage to sponsor us there’s still time! You can either drop off your contribution at our office or by cheque (Careline, c/o St Oswald’s Hospital, Clifton Road, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, DE6 1DR), or if you prefer to do it online, you can do so here: Virgin Money Giving

Many thanks for your support!

On Saturday 29th September, Careline will be holding a sponsored walk around Carsington Water to raise funds for the charity. We would really appreciate if you would consider sponsoring the Careline Team (Jane, Jo & Carolyn plus Maisie the West Highland Terrier!). Donations can be made on the following link – it really doesn’t matter how much, as every penny really does count:

https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/charity-web/charity/displayEventDetails.action?eventId=30781&charityId=1005884&invocation=evt0050

You can also send us a cheque if you would prefer, made payable to Careline:

Careline, St Oswald’s Hospital, Clifton Rd, Ashbourne, Derbyshire DE6 1DR

Or even better come along and join us. We will be meeting at Carsington Water’s Millfields Car Park (southern end of the reservoir nr Hognaston. Parking fee £2.50 for the day) from 9.30am and setting off at 10am. The length of the walk is around 8 miles, although a slightly shorter version is also available. There are a range of refreshments options available at the Visitors Centre, so you can stop and have a coffee on your way. Everyone is welcome to join us, especially 4-legged supporters – in fact the more the merrier and every penny will go to the charity.

You can register on the day  or e-mail: jo@carelinecalling.org.uk who will send you a  registration and sponsorship form. Or call Jo on 01335 210353 for more information.

We are still searching for that elusive large scale funding, but thanks to all our supporters we are able to continue running the service for the foreseeable future.

We recently spent  a very special afternoon at St Oswald’s Hospital celebrating 70 years of the NHS and what fun we had! It’s such a privilege to work alongside it’s dedicated staff & to be part of the hospital community. Thank you to everyone who donated, helped or came along to the afternoon to join us.  Special thanks to  fabulous local singing trio The Foxgloves and to Ashbourne Mayor Sue Bull who visited  the ward, so that the patients didn’t miss out on the special occasion.  Also  to Notty Hornblower from Hope House Costume Museum, Alstonfield who kindly provided the vintage unform display.
