There’s still time to donate to Wendy’s Kilimanjaro Fundraising Page: https://donate.giveasyoulive.com/campaign/wendys-kilimanjaro-hike-for-careline-2026
After 8 years with Careline, including six as our Chair of Trustees, Wendy took on the incredible challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Careline. She has completed the challenge and has so far raised £1,195, which is fantastic, but we would love to get to her set total of £2,000, so please donate today!!
WELL DONE, WENDY!!

🌄 She did it! 🌄
We are so proud to share that Wendy Potts, our Chair of Trustees, has successfully completed her Mount Kilimanjaro challenge!
After weeks of training, from long walks and tough workouts to preparing for life at altitude, Wendy took on the climb and made it all the way. An incredible achievement, and a huge personal challenge completed.
She’s shared some wonderful photos from the journey, which we will be sharing soon, giving a glimpse into what has been such a special and memorable experience.
All of this has been in support of Careline, helping us continue to provide regular, friendly calls to people who may otherwise feel isolated or alone.

Wendy is now enjoying a very well-earned rest after an unforgettable adventure, and we couldn’t be prouder. 💙

From training… to Tanzania… to Kilimanjaro!

Over the past few weeks, Wendy Potts, our Chair of Trustees, has been putting in the work to prepare for her Mount Kilimanjaro challenge, and it’s safe to say she took it seriously.
From long training walks and daily HIIT workouts, to testing out sleeping bags, focusing on nutrition, and even stocking up on magnesium for tired muscles… she’s been getting herself ready for every part of the journey.
And now, she’s there.

Wendy arrived in Tanzania and has already had her briefing with her chief guide, Janet, before beginning the climb on 15 March.
We’ve been sent some incredible updates along the way, including early morning views of Kilimanjaro and glimpses into life on the mountain. Seeing it all come together after weeks of preparation makes this feel very real.
She’s currently on the climb as we speak, taking on the altitude, terrain and challenge step by step, all to raise funds for Careline and support people who may otherwise feel alone.

🌄 She’s going to the top of Africa… for Careline! 🌄
We are incredibly proud to share that our Chair of Trustees, Wendy Potts, will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro this year to raise funds for Careline.
In March, Wendy will begin her ascent of the highest mountain in Africa, standing at 5,895 metres, all to support our free telephone befriending service for people across the Derbyshire Dales and East Staffordshire.
It’s 6 days of trekking, high altitude, tough terrain and serious determination. And she’s doing it to help us continue providing regular, friendly calls to people who may otherwise have no one to talk to.
Wendy has been involved with Careline for (number of years) and has seen first-hand the difference a simple phone call can make. This challenge is her way of giving back in a truly unforgettable way.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help us:
• Provide weekly befriending calls
• Support people who are lonely or isolated
• Train and support our amazing volunteers
• Keep our service free at the point of use

Wendy has been part of Careline for many years, including six as our Chair of Trustees, and this March she’s taking one of her toughest challenges to date: hiking Mount Kilimanjaro.
Standing at nearly 6,000 metres, Kilimanjaro is a demanding, high-altitude climb that requires months of training, determination and resilience. Wendy is taking on this challenge to support Careline to raise vital funds for the service she has helped guide and support.
Careline is a small, independent charity offering free telephone befriending calls to adults across the Derbyshire Dales, Erewash and East Staffordshire. Our volunteers bring comfort, connection and companionship to people who may be feeling lonely, isolated, or simply in need of someone to talk to.

We held our Christmas Fair on Saturday 6th December, and what a truly fabulous day it was! It was so lovely to see so many people come along, including some of our own members, to enjoy the festive atmosphere.
There were plenty of stalls to browse, a raffle and tombola, festive treats, mince pies and refreshments, and we were even lucky enough to have Santa pop in to spread some Christmas cheer! 🎅✨
Thanks to everyone’s generosity and support, we’re absolutely delighted to say we raised around £1,160, which is an incredible achievement.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to the following local businesses who very kindly donated prizes for our raffle:

And finally, thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers; those who donated, helped organise, ran stalls, and supported us on the day. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.
Thank you to everyone who attended and supported us – we hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did.

We attended the Ashbourne Lantern Spectacular in September. Apart from the torrential rain and cold, we enjoyed the lantern parade. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to play our wine game for adults and bran tub for children. You helped raise £96!!

Here are a few photos from the evening.
