This year’s gorgeous luxury Christmas hamper is ready! It’s jam-packed with so many delicious goodies it’s definitely worth buying a book of tickets for šŸ˜‰ This is our first prize in our Christmas draw, but there are lots of other fab prizes to be won. Raffle tickets are now on sale at St Oswald’s Hospital Reception until Friday 7th December, when the winners will be drawn at our Christmas Coffee Morning. Tickets are Ā£1 each or Ā£5 for a book šŸ˜

Careline has approached Aviva to see ifĀ  they would consider making us a financial award from their Community Fund; this is a fund which enables people to supportĀ  local causes that are important to them. We entered our telephone befriending service as a vitalĀ  project that would benefit from Aviva’s financial support & now we need to get as many votes fromĀ Ā friends, family and supporters in the community as we can, becauseĀ  this will increase our chances of getting through to the Finals where a judging panel will award the funds.

Last Friday we held our first Christmas Shopping Coffee Morning and what a fun time we had. Lots of stalls selling gorgeous handmade items. Lots of tea, coffee and yummy homemade cakes were consumed. Our members had a lovely time. Thank you to everyone who attended and made it such a success.

We are holding a Christmas Shopping Coffee Morning on Friday 9th November at St Oswald’s Hospital, Ashbourne, 10am-12pm. There will be the usual tea/coffee, raffle and a slice of homemade cake, but there will also be lots of local crafters and artisans selling their handmade goods, from jewellery and home accessories to candles and greeting cards. It’s open to everyone, so please do come along – we hope you can make it!

We hosted a beetle drive with a fish and chip supper on Friday 26th October at St Oswaldā€™s Church Hall and it was a lot of fun. The fish and chips from the Market Place, Ashbourne were delicious and complimented by some lovely wine, lots of raffle prizes were won too! Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and to those who helped out on the night.

On Saturday 29th September, our Chair, Gordon Hart, accepted a cheque from the Rotary Club of Ashbourne at the Last Night of the Proms for an amazing Ā£1000! Thank you SO much!

The Careline team and volunteers completed the 8 mile sponsored walk at Carsington Water on Saturday. The weather was just perfect with blue skies and warm sunshine – not a cloud in the sky. We set off at 10:15am and crossed the finish line (or rather the visitor centre for a well deserved coffee and cake) at 1:15pm.

So far we have raised Ā£370!!

If you didnā€™t manage to sponsor us thereā€™s still time! You can either drop off your contribution at our office or by cheque (Careline, c/o St Oswald’s Hospital, Clifton Road, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, DE6 1DR), or if you prefer to do it online, you can do so here: Virgin Money Giving

Many thanks for your support!

On Saturday 29th September, Careline will be holding a sponsored walk around Carsington Water to raise funds for the charity. We would really appreciate if you would consider sponsoring the Careline TeamĀ (Jane, Jo & Carolyn plus Maisie the West Highland Terrier!). Donations can be made on the following link – it really doesn’t matter how much, as every penny really does count:

https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/charity-web/charity/displayEventDetails.action?eventId=30781&charityId=1005884&invocation=evt0050

You can also send us a cheque if you would prefer, made payable to Careline:

Careline, St Oswald’s Hospital, Clifton Rd, Ashbourne, Derbyshire DE6 1DR

Or even better come along and join us. We will be meetingĀ at Carsington Water’s Millfields Car Park (southern end of the reservoir nr Hognaston. Parking fee Ā£2.50 for the day) from 9.30am and setting off at 10am. The length of the walk is around 8 miles, although a slightly shorter version is also available. There are a range of refreshments options available at the Visitors Centre, so you can stop and have a coffee on your way. Everyone is welcome to join us, especially 4-legged supporters – in fact the more the merrier and every penny will go to the charity.

You can register on the dayĀ  or e-mail: jo@carelinecalling.org.uk who will send you aĀ  registration and sponsorship form. Or call Jo on 01335 210353 for more information.
