Thank you 3

We would like to say a huge thank you to the community for continuing to support us.

So many individuals, volunteers, local societies, organisations and businesses have stepped forward to help and we appreciate it so much.

We would particularly like to thank:

  • Virgin Care
  • Toyota Charitable Trust
  • Derbyshire County Council
  • Ann Robinson (Golden Wedding Anniversary)
  • Sainsbury’s
  • Tesco
  • Tissington Well Dressing
  • Mark The Butchers
  • Foundation Derbyshire
  • Prince’s Trust
  • Cornerstone Cafe/Methodist Church
  • Uttoxeter Together day
  • Chris Hole Bequest
  • Marion Smart
  • Gladys Ellis
  • Gillian Prince
  • Santa Float

…to name but a few.

We would also like to thank our volunteers and all those who have given us their time, donations or help with our fundraising events. You have contributed enormously to ensuring that we are able to maintain our free telephone befriending service to the elderly and other vulnerable members of our society.

We are still searching for that elusive large scale funding, but thanks to all our supporters we are able to continue running the service for the foreseeable future.

You are invited to our next Coffee & Chatter morning this coming Friday (14th Sept), 10am-12pm at St Oswald’s Hospital, Ashbourne. There will be free coffee and tea and a slice of homemade cake as well as a raffle! Hope to see you there! ☕🍰😊

On Saturday 29th September, Careline will be holding a sponsored walk around Carsington Water to raise funds for the charity. We would really appreciate if you would consider sponsoring the Careline Team (Jane, Jo & Carolyn plus Maisie the West Highland Terrier!). Donations can be made on the following link – it really doesn’t matter how much, as every penny really does count:

You can also send us a cheque if you would prefer, made payable to Careline:

Careline, St Oswald’s Hospital, Clifton Rd, Ashbourne, Derbyshire DE6 1DR

Or even better come along and join us. We will be meeting at Carsington Water’s Millfields Car Park (southern end of the reservoir nr Hognaston. Parking fee £2.50 for the day) from 9.30am and setting off at 10am. The length of the walk is around 8 miles, although a slightly shorter version is also available. There are a range of refreshments options available at the Visitors Centre, so you can stop and have a coffee on your way. Everyone is welcome to join us, especially 4-legged supporters – in fact the more the merrier and every penny will go to the charity.

You can register on the day  or e-mail: who will send you a  registration and sponsorship form. Or call Jo on 01335 210353 for more information.

We recently spent  a very special afternoon at St Oswald’s Hospital celebrating 70 years of the NHS and what fun we had! It’s such a privilege to work alongside it’s dedicated staff & to be part of the hospital community. Thank you to everyone who donated, helped or came along to the afternoon to join us.  Special thanks to  fabulous local singing trio The Foxgloves and to Ashbourne Mayor Sue Bull who visited  the ward, so that the patients didn’t miss out on the special occasion.  Also  to Notty Hornblower from Hope House Costume Museum, Alstonfield who kindly provided the vintage unform display.

On 16th May, Careline’s East Staffordshire members were invited to join the Uttoxeter Friendship Group for their annual Strawberry Tea. The  Group have always been great supporters of Careline and this fantastic afternoon strengthened our friendship even more.

We all had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea and entertainment from the Sitwell Singers.  Thank you to the Friendship Group for making us all feel so welcome!32392104_2033619213626424_7241656323840933888_n

We had a lovely time hosting Careline’s third monthly Coffee & Chatter morning at St Oswald’s Hospital in Ashbourne last Friday. Many of our members and volunteers attended as well as people from the local community. Along with our usual fair of homemade cakes and handmade items, we also had a lovely donation of cakes from Hatters Tea Parties (images below). We also held a raffle for a beautiful shaker style sewing box, lovingly handmade and kindly donated to us by Ryan Quince. If you didn’t get the chance to purchase raffle tickets this time round, don’t worry as we will be selling raffle tickets at each of our coffee mornings until the draw on October 12th.

Our next Coffee & Chatter morning will be Friday 11th May, 10am-12pm. So if you fancy a free cup of tea or coffee, and a slice of homemade cake, please add it to your diaries as we’d love to see you there!

Careline’s second monthly Coffee & Chatter morning, held at St Oswald’s Hospital in Ashbourne, was another great success! Many of our members and volunteers attended as well as people from the local community. We also held our 100 Club Spring Draw, raffled a lovely big Easter egg, kindly donated to us by Sue Brown at Tesco, Uttoxeter, and presented gifts to volunteers who have been with us for 10 years or more. So a fun and busy morning was had by all!

Our next Coffee & Chatter morning will be Friday 13th April, 10am-12pm. So if you fancy a free cup of tea or coffee, and a slice of homemade cake, please add it to your diaries as we’d love to see you there!
