COVID-19 has changed all of our lives and it is only now that we can begin to understand what loneliness and isolation really mean. Our telephone befriending service is more important than ever as our older generation is asked to self-isolate and many others of varying ages are cut off from family and friends during the lockdown.

Demand for our service is growing day by day and our funds are depleting due to the cancellation and postponement of our regular fundraising events.

To help us through this difficult time we have launched our COVID-19 Emergency Appeal. Help us to continue to be there for anyone who is feeling lonely and isolated by donating today.

The smallest amount helps; so please donate anything you can. Thank you ❤️

We would like to reassure you that our service is still running and won’t be affected by the isolation measures. We will continue to call our members 7 days a week throughout this crisis, as we have done for the past 22 years.

Our registered volunteers will be making their telephone befriending calls from their homes. We are here for anyone living in the Derbyshire Dales and East Staffordshire, who may be feeling anxious and isolated at this difficult time, regardless of age. Please use us – our calls are completely free to receive and we are ready to help!

Please get in touch if you or someone you know would like our support by calling 01335 210353 or e-mail info@carelinecalling.org.uk.

New year, new plans, new memories to be made.
Happy New Year from all at Careline x

Wishing all of our members, volunteers and supporters a very happy Christmas! Thank you to everyone who has helped us this year – you all make a big difference to a small charity. We look forward to seeing you in the New Year, but in the meantime our befriending calls will carry on throughout the Christmas period, to those who need us.

The Careline Christmas Coffee Morning, our biggest event of the year, takes place this Friday 13th December! We’ll be selling tickets for the Christmas Draw, which will take place that morning; our first prize is an amazing M&S hamper worth £100, plus lots of other prizes!

We’ll have  a tombola, guess the weight of the cake, homemade cakes and crafts, new gifts and lots of other ways to win some prizes.  You can have a cup of  tea/coffee and mince pies, as you listen to Christmas carols from the Ashbourne Singers. This popular event is free to attend and everyone is welcome- so come,  join the fun and help us to raise some funds! Held at St Oswald’s Hospital, Ashbourne, Friday 13th December, 10am-12:30pm

We had such a good morning at our Winter Craft Fair on Friday. Thank you to everyone who came along, to our stall holders, to Hatters who donated so many cakes and to all of our volunteers. It was lovely to see everyone chatting over tea and cake and we raised £436!

Did you know that it’s National Befriending Week? The perfect week to raise awareness about the positive impact befriending makes in communities. So with that in mind, here are just a few of our brilliant volunteers, without whom Careline couldn’t exist and we think they’re great! Have a look – you might recognise someone.
